Health Hack #17 – The Purge

Temptation is a beast.

No matter how committed you are to eating healthy, if you are tired, and you have junk-food at the ready, it will derail you, hands-down. It’s not rocket science. Our body produces an appetite-increaser hormone called ghrelin when we are tired and/or stressed, and sends signals of hunger to the brain.

If you are committed to getting healthy, safeguard your commitment and purge your cabinets of all the junk food in them!

Stock your fridge with live, whole foods, like vegetables and fruits. Be prepared and you’ll create greater momentum and stick-to-itness your get-healthy goals!

Health Hack #16 – Low Sugar Fruit

Have you ever heard of candida?

Candida is a fungus which lives inside our body in a very small amount. It helps with digestion and absorption of nutrients.

But if our body becomes imbalanced, and begins to grow disproportionally in our body, it can cause leaky gut, poor digestion and even depression… and it thrives on, indeed loves, highly refined carbohydrates and sugar.

For a healing interim, eating only low-sugar fruit might be the best thing to do, to to advance  get-healthy efforts, and stop candida from growing rampantly in your body.

Stick to berries, grapefruit, lemons, limes and green apples. These fruits are the lowest in sugar, and your best choice to uplevel your health game!

Health Hack #15 – Your Accountability Partner

In Health Hack #15, I offer you a playful, but very effective little hack to help you gage your healthy eating and self-care practices.

Head out to your local garden shop, or to the nearby grocery store and get yourself a green plant. Humor me and try my idea. Use the vitality of your plant to mirror back to you your commitment to your own health and wellbeing.

When that plant starts to droop or die, consider this, are you moving so fast in life that you and that plant are both suffering?

Health Hack #15 might seem a ‘silly’ idea, but give it a try, you’ll see, it’s quite effective!

Health Hack #14 – The Reframe

The Reframe

There are two controlling forces in life, two forces that motivate you (or stop you) in all that you do, the desire to avoid pain or the desire to gain pleasure. To create change that lasts, to create healthy habits that last you MUST learn to learn to associate massive PAIN to not changing now, and massive PLEASURE to changing pronto, immediately, in this very moment!

Reframe. Change your thoughts, change your life.

Not possible you say? Au contraire, I say. Once a sugar-addict, I’ve transformed my whole life by challenging my thoughts about what is possible. I started with my health struggles and ALL the ways I was raised to think about food and wellness by changing how I thought about what is ‘good,’ and what is not so good to create a whole new access to life!

Health Hack #13 – The Math Equation

The Math Equation

Health Hack #13 is a game-changer. Without implementing ‘the math equation,’ without adding in nutrient dense foods like green juices, green smoothies and meal-sized green salads every day, while simultaneously taking out processed foods and the top 5 common toxic trigger foods, getting healthy could allude you, like it did me early on in life. No one ever impressed upon me the vital importance of BOTH adding in and taking out! One alone is not enough. Both are necessary, to reclaim your most vibrant health and wellbeing, clarity of mind and soaring energy.

Health Hack #12 – Chew Your Smoothie

Chew Your Smoothie

Do you know you should be chewing your smoothies?

Drinking a smoothie is no different than when you eat solid food. You actually activate the first phase of the digestive process in your mouth when you chew your food. Chewing activates saliva which contains an enzyme called amylase that helps breaks down carbohydrates, like the vegetables and fruits you add to your smoothie.

You might think that because your smoothie is pureed, you do not need to chew it, but when you chew your smoothie, as with all whole foods, you actually support your body in absorbing and assimilating nutrients. While you won’t need to chew your smoothie as much as a salad or apple, chewing will support healthy digestion, absorption and assimilation.

Health Hack #11 – Find Your Sweet Spot

Find Your Sweet Spot

Clients often ask – do I really have to give up this, this and that?

And my response is usually “I don’t know. What are you committed to?”

Depending on what you are dealing with, yes, perhaps you should try diving in full tilt-boogie to reach your get-healthy goals.

But, if you’re new to healthy lifestyle habits, taking on too much at once could overwhelm and even thwart your efforts.

So you look for your sweet spot, that space in between challenging yourself and not overwhelming yourself. 

… And the only person who can know your sweet spot is you.

In the week ahead, choose ONE get-healthy habit that you know would make a difference for you and find your sweet spot, in between challenging and not overwhelming! I’d love to hear what you choose, and how you uplevel your commitment in the comments below!

Your body is 50- 70% water, which is why it is the numero uno nutrient for you to take in each day Unfortunately, 75% of Americans suffer from chronic dehydration, which is very hard on the body!

Do you know your brain and heart are a whopping 73% water? Your lungs about 83% water? Your muscles and kidneys 79%? Even your bones are 31% water! You NEED water, it is the primary building block of your cells, tissues and organs. It carries nutrients into your body, and waste and toxins out … and hydrates you better than any other liquid, including sparking water.
